Question: Can the test be used for Maternity ?
Answer:
We can test a pup against two dams. Our results are verified by 2 scientists before they are recorded and reported.
Question: Dog Maternity without Sire
Answer:
Yes, that is completely acceptable. It is always good to ask the client if the dam and possible sire(s) are closely related. In those instances, we may need to use extra markers.
Question: color dilution alopecia included?
Answer:
NO
Question: Can it be done with hair sample?
Answer:
No only swab
Question: Processing time?
Answer:
Results take 1-2 weeks to finish processing once the sample is received. Age results takes an additional 1-2 weeks to complete after that.
Question: Price From DDC vet for Extended Testing - Horse
Answer:
The fee for extended testing is an additional $30USD per sample if needed. (Our prices to the client will be the same as Dog extended testing)
Question: Please also advise if this is like the dog parentage testing in that we can proceed without the dam’s samples and will only require extended testing if the standard amount of markers are not enough to provide an answer.
Answer:
We are pretty successful at verifying equine parentage matches with just the sire. We don't necessarily need the testing to be extended unless there are more than 1 suspected sires that are related either to each other or the mare. In those instances, the testing can get a little dicey because the gene pool becomes shallower.
Question: ABKC - Testing
Answer:
The American Bully Kennel Club has very strict registry requirements, and they will not accept testing if it does not go through their organization first. If the client says that this is for the ABKC, we will need to return the samples to them. The samples will need to go directly to the ABKC (we cannot send them to the ABKC for the client) and there are some fees they will need to pay the ABKC. I just wanted to double-check because I would hate for the client to run this testing, and then have to run it again because the ABKC won't accept the results. This is only a concern for American Bullies that are set for parentage or profile testing. The ABKC does not register any other kind of testing through DDC.
Question: Can we test if both potential fathers (Sires) Are related?
Answer:
Yes, We could certainly do the testing on the one sire who is still alive, the dam, and all of the puppies. Extended testing is an additional $30/ per dog, but it allows us to go past the first 16 markers to make an inclusion/exclusion. We will typically use extended testing when we have potential sires that are closely related.
Question: Can we test a deceased Sire?
Answer:
Unfortunately, we do not have a way to test a sample from the deceased sire.
Question: Do we test in DDC Vet?
Answer:
We re unable to test anything in the ratite family (Ostrich, Emu, Cassowary, etc.), We've tried but have not been able to successfully get the testing to work with our assays.
